Ellen Blattel

Founder/Consultant

A True PR Pioneer

As founder of one of the first public relations agencies in the country dedicated exclusively to serving professional services firms in 1990, Ellen's influence continues to be felt at Blattel Communications and, indeed, throughout the industry.

Although Ellen Blattel (mostly) retired in 2020, she continues to consult occasionally on specific projects. Her deep experience and thoughtful insights have helped shape hundreds of client stories. She also is the media coach extraordinaire, helping even the most uncomfortable clients learn to be at ease with reporters. For Ellen, there’s nothing more rewarding than counseling clients on how to best position themselves in the marketplace and then experiencing, alongside them, the positive results.

Professional Activities

During her long tenure, Ellen presented on an array of marketing and communications topics to dozens of legal and business organizations, including the Public Relations Society of America, Bar Association of San Francisco, State Bar of California, Practising Law Institute, American Inns of Court and the Legal Marketing Association (LMA). Ellen was an active member of the LMA for decades and was awarded the Rella Lossy Marketing Professional of the Year award for her professionalism and outstanding contributions to the practice of law firm marketing and business development by the Bay Area Chapter in 2005. Currently an active volunteer focused on felines with the Milo Foundation in Richmond, Calif., she was also previously active as a member of the board for the Legal Aid Society Employment Law Center.
