Strategy + Planning

Law firm business development works best when integrated campaigns focus on clear strategic goals with identified target audiences. We help firms leverage available strengths and resources to create an actionable roadmap for supporting desired business goals, including:

  • Identify opportunities
  • Assess challenges
  • Develop initiatives

Targeted Initiatives

It is not unusual for a law firm to call us to supplement in-house resources to help boost resources for a specific initiative. It can be difficult for internal teams to find the bandwidth to tackle large projects while maintaining day-to-day marketing and BD activities. That’s where we come in.

We integrate with existing teams, including collaborating with outside service providers, to ensure your targeted initiatives get the focused attention they deserve. We can offer fresh thinking, add accountability or help with plan implementation. Examples might include guidance and project management for a website refresh, a new practice launch, a merger or significant lateral onboarding, or a succession planning leadership transition.

Meeting Facilitation

Our senior leadership team brings decades of experience working with law firms and lawyers, from first year associates to senior leadership. We collaborate with marketing teams or firm leaders to design meeting agendas and programming that engages participants in firm marketing and business development. We facilitate planning session to help groups identify shared goals, generate ideas and create consensus around next steps to achieving success.

Individual + Team Coaching

Blattel Communications supports the planning, execution, and accountability required to maintain consistent business development activity. Our approach includes initial goal setting and a “Coaching Lite” ongoing series of regular “check-ins” that offer 1:1 advising and support to busy professionals to ensure they continue to move forward on their individual business development efforts.

Business development coaching can also be done at the group level (for example, bringing together a team to collaborate on practice, industry or client service growth). In this case, multiple participants each make contributions to the group’s overarching goals and regular check-ins ensure accountability and forward progress on the plan’s implementation.

Training + Presentations

Bringing years of experience working in the legal industry, we frequently present to groups of attorneys of attorneys both in-person and virtually. We find it especially effective when programs are tailored to include specific firm policies and procedures. Past programs have covered topics such as:

  • Overview of marketing and business development tactics for lawyers
  • Media training
  • Better article/blog writing
  • LinkedIn + other social media (profile development + online engagement)
  • Networking tips (for in-person or virtual events)
  • Making the most of conference attendance
  • Nurturing a referral network
  • Bespoke programs to improve attorney engagement in firm initiatives
